If you are a former military pilot wanting to undertake resettlement training then PTT Flight Training Centre based at Leeds Bradford International Airport, Yeadon, West Yorkshire, has the right choice of courses for you.
Our Resettlement Programme is Enhanced Learning Credit Approved and offers financial assistance for those undertaking many of the courses within the programme.
PTT, which is handily located close to Leeds, Bradford, Harrogate and York, is also a preferred Armed Forces supplier through the Career Transition Partnership and is the only flight training centre in the country with this approval. Obviously, military pilots have very different flight training needs to attain their licences than their civilian counterpart, and each pilot leaving the service has unique training needs depending on when they left and the type of aircraft they have operated. PTT provides specific, professional advice on flight training and our staff are experienced in both resettlement and commercial flying.
Here at PTT you can undertake a unique system of accreditation and flight training exemption to facilitate your transition into commercial flying.
We offer a variety of resettlement courses that have been specially designed for military pilots and also military personnel with no flying experience. They include:
Comprehensive Modular Courses
Designed for people with no previous flying experience, Comprehensive Modular Courses offer the best of both worlds. Ground school is completed via a correspondence course combined with formal classroom training with Bristol Ground School, while the Private Pilot’s Licence (PPL) and hour-building required for the Commercial Pilot’s Licence (CPL) take advantage of Florida’s weather for continuity during this important phase of training.
The final part of the course takes place at PTT, where our expert instructors will guide you through the CPL skills test, multi-rating and instrument rating. On completion you will have obtained a CPL (Frozen ATPL)/IR licence.
Expert Advanced Training
Conducted at PTT, Expert Advanced Training is designed for candidates with relevant flying experience. Some or all of the advanced training outlined may have to be undertaken depending on the amount and type of experience you have:
Conducted on our fleet of twin-engine aircraft, the course takes a minimum of 6hrs plus test to complete. And gives each candidate a good foundation which could reduce the training requirement for Instrument Rating.
Instrument rating training
Takes a minimum of fifteen hours unless holder of a procedural green in which case it will take approximately seven hours to complete and also uses our fleet of twin-engine aircraft to maintain consistency. The test is conducted at PTT by an authorised CAA examiner.
Multi Crew Co-operation (MCC) training
This is mandatory training for any pilot who has not flown a multi-crew aircraft. The course lasts eight consecutive days, three of which are held in our superbly equipped multi-media classrooms, followed by one simulator session each remaining day. The flight simulator is a state-of-the-art Beech 200 King Air, which gives an excellent balance between aircraft performance and simplicity of operation, allowing our instructors to teach the principles of MCC flying rather than the complexities of operating a particular type of aircraft.
