If you fancy learning to fly a helicopter but would perhaps like to experience more than a trial flying lesson has to offer without fully committing yourself, PTT has the perfect solution.
Here at PTT at Leeds Bradford International Airport, Yorkshire, we have launched an Introductory Helicopter Flight Training Day, which will appeal to anyone interested in learning to fly a rotary aircraft.
The Introductory Day allows you to spend a full day with our instructor, meet our staff, have a tour in our facilities and experience two or three hours at the controls of a Robinson R22, R44 or Cabri G2 helicopter. You will have the chance to learn the basic flying manoeuvres including level flight, climb, descent and turn during two flights.
The first session will consist of a pre-flight brief, your instructor will explain the mechanics of helicopter flying in more detail. Your first rotary flight of the day, starting from Leeds Bradford Airport, will take you over Harewood House and Eccup Reservoir, Wetherby Racecourse, and around York. You will then fly over Elvington Airfield before returning back to the airport via Tadcaster. After this amazing flight you will definitely need a break! We will buy you refreshments in our contemporary new café bar and discuss the second part of your day with you.
After the afternoon’s pre-flight briefing we’ll depart again, this time towards Harrogate. We will fly over Knaresborough heading North for our next point Ripon, completing some more exercises over the Yorkshire Dales. We will then head back to the airport via the Wharfe Valley for a coffee break. This is going to be a fantastic experience for you and it will give you a taste of real helicopter flying!
After the flight de-brief you will get a tour of our Flight Training Centre facilities and you will get the chance to sit in larger turbine helicopters. So, don’t forget your camera!
Throughout the day you will meet people who started flying themselves with a trial flying lesson or introductory flight training day and have gone on to study for a range of flying courses, including PPL(H) and PPL(H) Night. They will endeavour to answer the many questions you are certain to have.
All the flying time during your Introductory Helicopter Flight Training Day will count towards your PPL(H) training, should you wish to enrol.
You are guaranteed a day to remember here at PTT!
